St Peter Child Care
StPCC is a Christian outreach project for the care of children orphaned as a result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In our country, with a current estimate in excess of one million such orphaned children, there is certainly a considerable need for compassion and help.
St. Peter's Child Care was formed in 2000 by members of the St. Peter’s by the Lake Community Church (Parkview), part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southern Africa (ELKSA-NT). The organization enjoys the patronage of the Ex Deputy President of South Africa, Ms Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, and Andrew Mc Lean who is a South African cyclist, the partnership of, among others, Johannesburg Child Welfare, LUCSA and Roodeport Child Welfare. It is registered both as an independent non-profit organization and as a public benefit organization. The Commissioner of Inland Revenue has accorded it tax-exempt status, and donations to the organization are tax deductible by the donor.
StPCC currently supports 7 foster families, consisting of 7 foster mothers and 25 foster chlidren. It is run by a committee of volunteers, with the aid of a salaried project manager, a social worker and a bus driver.
